In this current economic downturn, community-based organizations and nonprofits are finding resources even tougher to come by. And those who are providing funding, from government to private philanthropy, are seeking and requiring, but not always getting, more accountability and results for the funds they provide. The dilemma is that while community-based organizations can and do facilitate life-altering impacts and changes in the people they serve, it can be challenging to communicate the value of those changes in financial and economic terms.
